Please take a few minutes to read this.
As always our goal is changing people’s lives and encourage a healthy, active community.
Despite what is going on in the World, it is important to maintain a healthy active life and keep as much normality and where possible a sense of perspective.
We continually follow Industry standards through our governing body, Ukactive and take advice and guidance from Industry guidelines.
As we are seeing more of the spread of Coronavirus around the U.K, we would like to take this opportunity to reassure our members that as always we are doing our upmost to keep your club clean, germ free and hygienic as possible. We have stepped up our cleaning regime even further and are being extra vigilent to ensure our members and staff are kept as safe as possible.
Like every business, we can’t guarantee a complete risk free zone however, we can take steps to ensure that we do everything we can.
In light of the current situation we have had to introduce some extra vigilent new measures into our daily routine to reassure you.
-We are using anti-bacterial spray to clean all handles, door plates, machines, mats, screens and weights. Our -staff are regularly washing their hands and will also do this before and after every gym appointment with you and class.
In return could we ask you to:
-Wash your hands with the facilities provided BEFORE & AFTER your gym workout or class.
-Do not enter the club if you feel unwell in anyway.
-Please bring a towel to place on machines and mats to limit contact for other users.
-There will be anti-bacterial wipes all around the club for you to use but we must insist that after a spinning class or a class using our mats, you wipe down your own bike or mat and then bin your wipe in the bins provided.
-If you are in the position to bring your own mat to class that would be great.
-Keep up to date with the NHS guidelines.
At 3-1-5 we are doing our upmost to give you the safest environment possible. So why should you keep going to the gym?
The benefits of exercise for auto immune
Physical activity may help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways. This may reduce your chance of getting a cold, flu, or other illness. Exercise causes change in antibodies and white blood cells (WBC). WBCs are the body’s immune system cells that fight disease.
Exercise helps decrease your chances of developing heart disease. It also keeps your bones healthy and strong.
We do not know exactly if or how exercise increases your immunity to certain illnesses. There are several theories. However, none of these theories have been proven.
Some of these theories are:
-Physical activity may help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways. This may reduce your chance of getting a cold, flu, or other illness.
-Exercise causes change in antibodies and white blood cells (WBC). WBCs are the body’s immune system cells that fight disease. These antibodies or WBCs circulate more rapidly, so they could detect illnesses earlier than they might have before. However, no one knows whether these changes help prevent infections.
-The brief rise in body temperature during and right after exercise may prevent bacteria from growing. This temperature rise may help the body fight infection better. (This is similar to what happens when you have a fever.)
-Exercise slows down the release of stress hormones. Some stress increases the chance of illness. Lower stress hormones may protect against illness.
-A gym is no more at risk than any other communal area as long as good hygiene is in place, people respect guidelines and if you feel poorly stay at home.
Claudia Carrillo, your BioMed Healthcare Practitioner recommends that, along with following all NHS guidelines regarding being fastidious about hand washing and taking hygiene measures, it would be highly advisable to assist your immune system.
Swimming and Stingrays
Public Health England have advised that is it generally safe to go swimming at this time, water and chlorine within swimming pools will help kill the virus.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the additional hygiene practices we have within 3-1-5 to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for all, and we ask all pool users to shower before entering the pool and again to shower on leaving the pool. Around the club we also have numerous hand sanitising gel dispensers, to allow you to “freshen up” whenever needed.
If you or your child are feeling unwell at all we would also ask that you do not attend the club until feeling well again, to reduce the risk of potential spread of any cold or viruses.
3-1-5 and Stingrays Swim School are committed to providing our members and swimmers with a safe and hygienic space to swim, and we are taking this situation very seriously. We are closely monitoring the situation and following advice from Public Health England and UKActive, and we shall update our procedures as and when required.
Exercise makes you feel healthier and more energetic. It can help you feel better about yourself. So go ahead, take that aerobics class or go for that walk. You will feel better and healthier for it.
We are grateful for each and every one of you. It is your passion for 3-1-5 that helps makes 3-1-5 a success year after year. And it is that same passion that will drive us into the future, healthily and happily.
Thanks for your time.
