WANTED! Local residents of the Morecambe, Lancaster and Lonsdale area needing one to one kick-start support for an initial period of 6 weeks to get them on the road to a healthy active lifestyle.

At 3-1-5 we are delighted to have established a Healthy Partnership with University of Cumbria whereby year 2 and 3 students are available and qualified to work on a 1 to 1 basis with clients and are  looking to gain further professional experience and apply their theory for the benefit of the local community.

Our Kickstart program is designed to help you make health improvement’s in a warm, friendly and supportive environment whilst enjoying the warm ambience and support of working with like-minded people.

Adam Smith, University of Cumbria said: ‘Our Year 2 and 3 Sports rehabilitation students will be offering a complete service to work alongside 3-1-5. They conduct initial consultations/postural muscle assessments and functional muscle screening. The results of these testing protocols allows the student to design a specific 5/6 week rehab based program that can be treatment and exercise based.  Our aim is to produce a greater pain free range of motion and a general improvement in everyday functional fitness’.

Recent studies involving over a million people have shown that being physically inactive can increase risks of: – heart attack, heart disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, premature death and depression.

The good news is that the same study has also proven that being physically active for part of your day can eliminate the risks associated with being sedentary for long periods of time during the day.

From the first clientele group recently completing the Kickstart programme we have some compelling results:

Sandie, our Kickstart co-ordinator stated: ‘Our focus is a long-standing and uncompromising vision to get more people, more active, more often. We are committed to improving the health of the community through promoting active lifestyles. This new exciting partnership with the University of Cumbria will be available to both members and non-members’.

Starting to get active can seem quite daunting, we understand that. Start small and build up gradually, believe in yourself and your ability to make a change for the better. We’re with you every step of the way!
