OMM is improving the service provided to it’s community. The first OMM Centre for the public is to open in Lancaster, January 2018 at 3-1-5.
The “Original Mountain Marathon” is a 2-day Mountain event, held in a different region across the UK every year. It was first held in 1968 and designed to be run in extreme circumstances; the full-length course is a double-marathon length race. Each team must carry all equipment for two days, including an overnight camp. The course is not disclosed until the race begins, so each team must have good navigation skills. It is considered to be the premier event of the outdoor runner’s calendar. OMM is also well known for the specialised products it designs.
Based at 315 Health Club, the centre will be open to the public and will offer education and training to individuals and groups on all aspects of taking part in an OMM. As part of 315 Health Club it will also provide a service to club members. The centre will also stock a comprehensive range of products to fulfil the OMM event ”Kit List”.
Andy Williams from OMM says:
”This is a very exciting project for us. To be able to improve the contact we have with our community has always been a priority. Hopefully by being based next to junction 34 on the M6 people will take the time to drop in and have a chat. There is also a great coffee shop.”
The biggest factor about Lancaster Race Series is that they are organised by runners for runners. It quite often will not be flashy but all races are measured, there will be goodies and there will be support by organisers for every type of runner.
